Leshan Grand Buddha sits at the confluence of the Mingjiang, Dadu, and Qingyi rivers. It is a State-protected site of cultural relics, and a UN claimed world natural and cultural heritage. Collecting the natural beauties of Jiazhou--Leshan, the Grand Buddha area has become a State ranked scenic spot, and one of the "Best Fourty" tourist places of China.

乐山大佛是世界著名的景观，被列入《世界遗产名录》的文化与自然双重遗产。乐山大佛景区位于乐山市郊，岷江、大渡河、青衣江三江交汇处，与乐山城隔江相望，地处凌云山中部，海拔448米，周长约3.5公里，面积约0.6平方公里。
山上茂林修竹终年葱茏，山下三江汇聚，舟船点点，水光接天，俨然一幅天然画卷，享有西南山水之冠的美誉，为历代文人墨客所咏赞。宋.邵博《清音亭记》云：“天下山水之观在蜀，蜀之胜曰嘉州，州之胜曰凌云……”。凌云山文物古迹丰富，历代名人题咏遍山皆是。1984年经国务院公布为国家级风景名胜区，1991年入选“中国旅游胜地四十佳”。
